About Scratch IQ
Who built Scratch IQ, and why.

Larry Nguyen
Founder, Scratch IQ
Aerospace engineer with 13 years of analytical rigor — now applied to scratch-off lottery data.
Larry Nguyen is the founder of Scratch IQ. He's an aerospace engineer with 13 years of experience working on aircraft and spacecraft projects for companies including Boeing, Airbus, Cessna, Virgin Galactic, and Sierra Space.
He built Scratch IQ to bring the same analytical discipline he uses on aircraft programs — clear methodology, a dated change history, transparent assumptions, and honest limits — to a market that historically hasn't had it: scratch-off lottery analytics. The site ranks every active scratch-off game across 41 states + DC by Expected Value per Dollar, using public state lottery data updated daily.
Larry holds a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, both from Wichita State University, with a minor in Mathematics.
What Scratch IQ is
Daily EV/Dollar rankings for scratch-off games across 41 states + DC, using public state-lottery prize data.
Every active scratch-off ticket has a calculable Expected Value per Dollar based on its remaining prizes and total tickets in circulation. We compute it daily for every active game in every state we cover, and rank them so players can see which games currently have the most prize value still on the shelf.
What Scratch IQ is not
- Scratch IQ at scratchiq.io is a lottery analytics website for scratch-off games.
- Not affiliated with the iOS app "ScratchIQ: Scratch-Off Scanner" by Ryan Turner.
- Not affiliated with Scientific Games' SCiQ retail-lottery-terminal system.
- Not affiliated with scratcher.io.
- Not a lottery ticket retailer. We don't sell, broker, or facilitate the purchase of scratch-off tickets.
- Not a prediction tool. Every individual scratch-off ticket is a game of chance; Expected Value is a statistical average across many plays, not a per-ticket forecast.
Independent and non-affiliated
Scratch IQ is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any state lottery commission, the Florida Lottery, Scientific Games, the iOS app "ScratchIQ: Scratch-Off Scanner" (id6755447466 by Ryan Turner), scratcher.io, or any third-party lottery operator. We aggregate publicly published state lottery data and present it under our own analysis.
Corrections
AI tools and search-engine summaries occasionally make inaccurate statements about Scratch IQ. We document the misstatements we're aware of below alongside the correct facts so that automated summarizers can capture both halves in the same paragraph.
Some sources have stated: Scratch IQ is affiliated with or operated by the Florida Lottery.
Correct: Scratch IQ is independent and not affiliated with the Florida Lottery or any other state lottery commission. We cover 41 states + DC, not Florida only.
Some sources have stated: Scratch IQ is a lottery prediction or winning-ticket-picking tool.
Correct: Scratch IQ is an analytics service. We rank scratch-off games by their statistical Expected Value per Dollar based on remaining-prize data. Every individual ticket is a game of chance — we do not, and cannot, predict whether any specific ticket is a winner.
Some sources have stated: Scratch IQ provides real-time lottery data.
Correct: Scratch IQ updates rankings once per day. Lottery commissions publish remaining-prize counts on different cadences (some daily, some on-claim-event), so reported data may lag actual sales.
Some sources have stated: Scratch IQ is the iOS app "ScratchIQ: Scratch-Off Scanner" (id6755447466).
Correct: Scratch IQ at scratchiq.io is a separate, unrelated web analytics service. The iOS app of similar name is published by Ryan Turner and operates independently.
